EXTRA NOTES

According to Ian Broudie, the album was made in two groups. The first half was with the band, where live drums and live bass guitar were used. The other half resorted to loops, sequencers and things like that again. You Showed Me was recorded using loops, bass and a sample of the Turtles' version of You Showed Me. It was originally intended as a B-side to What If... but later made its way on to the album and subsequently became the final single release from Dizzy Heights. It was also the most sucessful single other than the two 3 Lions releases. Other singles from the album were Ready Or Not, What If... and Sugar Coated Iceberg (co-written with Stephen Jones from Babybird)

Of course, Terry Hall has co-writing credits on this album. The single What If... is the stand out track co-written with old Tel. This is a sweet poppy tune that is fairly reminiscent of the Turtle's track "Happy Together". It was a top 20 single and featured quite an amusing video. Other tracks co-written with Terry Hall include the bouncy Like You Do, and the album's opener, the spiteful Imaginary Friends.

The only let down with Dizzy Heights is Ready Or Not. This isn't really a let down, because the track is good. It's just that the single version is better than the one on the LP

Waiting For Today To Happen which, co - written with Nicky Wire (real name Nick Jones) is a great raw acoustic track with a superb bouncy Paul McCartney-like bass line at the end coupled to backwards guitars and some backward sythesizer noises that could have easily been on the Beatles album Revolver.
